About products and suppliers

A tractor wagon, also known as a tractor trailer or simply a trailer, is a vehicle towed by a tractor or a truck. It is commonly used in construction and transportation industries for carrying goods, materials, and equipment. In agriculture, tractor wagons for sale transport crops, hay, and other farm produce from the fields to storage or processing facilities. Most garden tractor wagons usually have an open bed and are designed for slow speed. Furthermore, they have wide tires that stop them from sinking in soft soil and creating deep channels on lawns.

Hydraulic tractor wagons

When buying tractor wagons for heavy lifting, consider wagons fitted with hydraulic systems. A hydraulic tractor wagon basically uses little energy to haul and unload heavy loads, thanks to the principle of fluid dynamics. With that in mind, here is how hydraulic tractor wagons work.

Hydraulic wagons such as John Deere tractor wagons have hydraulic cylinders, pumps and reservoirs. When the hydraulic system of the tractor wagon is engaged with a lever located near the driver, it causes the hydraulic pump to push the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir to the hydraulic lifts. This raises the wagon on one side, forcing the goods to slide through the open swing door. The tractor may be driven forward a little bit to create more space for unloading. From engaging a small lever to dumping down several tones in mere minutes, hydraulic tractor wagons have many benefits. Some of them are speed unloading time, versatility, and reduced labor expenses. On the downside, buying large or small hydraulic tractor wagons is pricier than conventional wagons.

Open vs. enclosed tractor wagons

The choice between an open and enclosed tractor wagon depends on the specific needs and the type of cargo being transported. For starters, open wagons are versatile and well-suited for transporting bulk materials, such as hay, straw, or other agricultural products, over a short distance. This makes them suitable for agricultural applications. In addition to versatility, small open trailers such as lawn tractor wagons are cheap to purchase. Using open trailers, however, exposes goods to elements and thieves.

While open tractor wagons are used for short distances, enclosed wagons transport goods over long distances. Enclosed wagons protect goods from elements and may be fitted with coolers to preserve perishable goods. On the flip side, loading and unloading enclosed trailers is time-consuming. Plus, the amount of raw material and labor invested in designing and assembling them makes enclosed tractor wagons expensive.

What is the cargo capacity of tractor wagons?

Tractor wagons come in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different payload capacities. The capacity can range from a few hundred pounds to several tons, depending on the type of trailer and its construction. Some tractor wagons, specially designed to carry hay, are large and wide; thus, they carry bulky but lightweight goods. In contrast, small garden tractor wagons have a low payload. They carry less than 3000 pounds for two reasons. The first reason is that the tractor is mostly used on soft soil, allowing it to carry heavy loads that will compact lawns or create trenches. Another reason is these tractors are mostly small. Hence, they can't carry more.
